About Us
The Irish Heritage Trust CLG (IHT) is a registered charity that cares for some of Ireland’s most beautiful historic properties. Your membership supports our work and gives you access to these special places.
Visiting Our Properties
- Children under 8 may use bicycles/scooters. Motorised toys are not allowed.
- Dogs are welcome in the gardens if kept on a short lead and cleaned up after.
- Please treat our spaces with care and respect—these places are treasures!
- We reserve the right to revoke membership or visitors if a visitor behaves abusively or damages property.
Membership
- If you have taken out membership then your membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
- Cards are non-transferable and may require ID for verification
- Members enjoy free access to our historic properties:
- Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens
- Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens
- Strokestown Park & National Famine Museum
- Guests you bring get 20% off daily tickets (when you’re present).
- Family membership includes two adults and dependent children living at the same address.
- Lost cards? We’ll replace them for a €5 fee.
Events & Access
- Note that special ticketed events may not be included in free entry and may require separate booking.
- Opening hours may vary due to the time of the year, private or public events. Please check ahead before visiting.
Safety & Liability
- Visitors enter at their own risk. We do our best to keep things safe, but we can’t accept liability for personal injury or loss.
- Regarding Membership, we reserve the right to change membership benefits or prices without prior notice.
Dog Policy
We love dogs and they are very welcome to our sites. To insure that all visitors feel welcome we do have the following rules:
All dogs must be kept on leads under effectual control. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dog. In addition, the Control of Dogs Regulations 1998 places additional controls on the following specific breeds of dogs:
- American Pit Bull Terrier
- English Bull Terrier
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- Bull Mastiff
- Doberman Pinscher
- German Shepherd (Alsatian)
- Rhodesian Ridgeback
- Rottweiler
- Japanese Akita
- Japanese Tosa
Website Use
- We aim to keep the site up and running, but sometimes the internet has other plans and it may go down for a period.
- Please don’t misuse the site or try to break it.
